Sunday, October 27th, 2024:
Family Day @ ARTECHOUSE DC
From 10AM to 5PM, ARTECHOUSE DC transforms into an underwater adventure zone, inviting ocean lovers of all ages to dive into a day filled with special activities and exclusive tours.
At 1PM and again at 3PM, we’re honored to host Dr. Dana Yoerger, a Senior Scientist at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and a pioneer in marine robotics.
Dr. Yoerger’s current research focuses on Mesobot, a cutting-edge underwater robot designed to explore the midwater regions of the ocean. Mesobot’s mission is to track creatures like zooplankton, which play a crucial role in the global carbon cycle. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to meet Dr. Yoerger and take a behind-the-scenes tour of our ocean-inspired exhibition.
Throughout the day, guests can participate in an XR scavenger hunt, accessible through the ARTECHOUSE app, allowing you to explore the exhibit in a whole new interactive way. Other fun activities include coloring stations and the chance to collect cool underwater stickers. Be sure to stop by the gift shop for exclusive merchandise deals and specials available only to Family Day attendees.
Family-friendly pricing makes this day even more accessible! Children under 3 are admitted for free, children under 15 for just $16, and groups of 4-9 receiving an automatic 10% discount when booking tickets online.
Sunday, November 3rd, 2024:
Book Reading with Michelle Cusolito
On November 3rd, at 1PM, join us for an engaging book reading with Michelle Cusolito, an award-winning author and science writer. Michelle will be sharing stories from her latest work, A Window Into the Ocean Twilight Zone: Twenty-Four Days of Science at Sea. Her book takes readers on an eye-opening journey to the North Atlantic, where she spent three weeks with scientists from WHOI and international partners studying the mysterious ocean twilight zone.
During this event, Michelle will offer behind-the-scenes insights into how ocean research is conducted and share her personal experiences at sea. It’s a unique opportunity to learn about the fascinating process of scientific exploration and the creation of her book. Copies of A Window Into the Ocean Twilight Zone will be available for purchase, and Michelle will be signing books after the reading.
Once again, family pricing is available, with free admission for children under 3, discounted tickets for those under 15, and special group rates for families and friends.
Whether you’re looking to explore the wonders of the deep ocean with your family or get inspired by a behind-the-scenes look at marine science, these two events at ARTECHOUSE DC offer something for everyone. Don’t miss out on these opportunities to dive into the magic of the ocean with us this fall!
