The River Remembers: Taking a Multi-Media approach in a Digital Environment

The River Remembers is a hyper-stylized dreamscape of color and digital surrealism, created by artists Blake Kathryn and Maalavidaa, where radiant femme energy reigns.

More than a meditative refuge, it becomes a declaration of presence. This immersive dreamscape soothes while empowering, inviting viewers to lose themselves in color and rediscover the freedom of play, emotion, and identity.

The installation was created using both digital and analog tools, an unexpected fusion of technique that reflects the varied yet complementary aesthetics of the two artists.

Using real liquid paint and inks, Maalavidaa captures flowing forms in 4k and 8k resolution video, reapplying color in post-production. The captured flowing streams of these vibrant abstractions fuse with Blake Kathryn’s pastel-toned architectures, producing an otherworldly Multimedia environment that is both hypnotic and bold.

“When you speak the same visual and emotional language as someone, something very beautiful happens,”

– Maalavidaa, on the collaboration between herself and Blake Kathryn
