EXPLORE BUFFALO BAYOU PARK AND THE CISTERN
Houston summers can be hot, but mornings are perfect for exploring Buffalo Bayou Park. The park offers miles of trails, skyline views, public art, and some of the city’s most beautiful green spaces. While not technically in the Heights, we wouldn’t want you to miss this opportunity to remember that Houston is far more outdoorsy than most people realize.
While you’re there, don’t miss The Cistern. Originally built in 1926 as an underground drinking water reservoir, this massive cavernous space has been transformed into one of Houston’s most unique cultural attractions. The towering columns, haunting acoustics, and rotating art installations create an experience that feels unlike anything else in Texas.

Creativity is around every corner in the Heights – where galleries, studios, and immersive experience invite you to see Houston in a new way.
One of the Heights’ best-kept secrets, Laura is a tiny contemporary art gallery that proves great things come in small spaces. Each exhibition, thoughtfully curated by owner Laura Burton, spotlights emerging and established artists from Houston and beyond, making every visit feel like discovering something new before everyone else does.

Home to dozens of working artists and creative businesses, Silver Street Studios provides a glimpse into Houston’s thriving arts community. Art lovers should time their visit around one of Silver Streets’ monthly Open Studio events, where Houston artists throw open their doors and invite visitors inside their creative spaces. It’s a rare opportunity to meet the artists, see works in progress, and discover original pieces directly from the people who make them.
