October is National Arts and Humanities Month. ARTECHOUSE, which has spent the last decade pushing the boundaries of what art experience can be, is thrilled to celebrate this month across our locations in Washington D.C., New York City and Houston through a series of programs, promotions and events.
The October programming is intended to make art created through technology more accessible to everyone and foster a deeper connection with our growing art+tech community. Expect Pay What You May Days, special events and promotions, bar offers & more.

WASHINGTON, DC
ARTECHOUSE’s inaugural location, and the nation’s first permanent space dedicated to art created through technology, opened “Twilight Zone: Hidden Wonders Of The Ocean” in partnership with Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, continuing its ongoing collaborations with the best-in-class scientific partners. This exhibition plunges you into the mysterious depths of the ocean twilight zone to discover the enchanting world of bioluminescence and showcases the interconnectedness of marine life. Appropriate for all ages, this show will host the following October programs:
Tuesday, October 1 – Hands Off Phones & Eyes On Art Day
While we love seeing all the content created across our locations, we invite our community to put their phones down and, dare we say it, immerse themselves in our cinematic art and storytelling.

Sunday, October 13 – Sensory Sensitivity Sessions
(10:00am-12:00pm) A comfortable and judgment-free space for children and adults with sensory sensitivities. The exhibition will be adjusted to facilitate an accessible experience, including the reduction of volume throughout the space, increased lighting, and a neutral space with lights on and seating for those who may need or would like to take a break. Upon booking, guests will also receive a resource guide walking them through the experience and provide additional information to prepare for their visit.

NEW YORK CITY
Our New York location, located in the heart of the Meatpacking District, in the historic boiler room of the Chelsea Market is celebrating its 5 anniversary with “Flashback 5” – a limited-run exhibition that combines five of our most cinematic past experiences, all in one place for the first time. Be moved by the mesmerizing Geometric Properties created with Julius Horsthuis, the introspective TRUST created with fuse*, the poignant Life of a Neuron in collaboration with the Society for Neuroscience, the celestial Beyond the Light in collaboration with NASA and the powerful Ase: Afro Frequencies in collaboration with Vince Fraser and ursula rucker.

HOUSTON
Our latest location (and the first ARTECHOUSE Multiplex) which opened doors in Houston at the very start of Summer 2024, is currently showing three genre-hopping shows under one “Time and Space” programmatic umbrella: Beyond The Light, an Award-winning ARTECHOUSE Studio original production in collaboration with NASA, Intangible Forms, by Japanese multimedia artist Shohei Fujimoto employs choreographed lasers, strobes and moving lights to explore the universal connections between living beings and their realities, and Eternal Life, created by ARTECHOUSE Studio in collaboration with the Nobel Prize Museum, this installation explores existence through Nobel Prize-winning works such as the celestial orbits and the revolutionary CRISPR/Cas9 gene-editing technology.
