ARTECHOUSE DC Presents BLOOMING WONDERS: A Best of Spring Exhibition
Step into a World of Blossoms, Butterflies, and Immersive Beauty at ARTECHOUSE’s Spring Showcase. An Annual Celebration of Spring’s Beauty Through the Fusion of Nature, Technology & Art.
Opening March 7, 2025, for a Limited Engagement Through the End of April.
Washington, DC — ARTECHOUSE DC is thrilled to present Blooming Wonders: A Best-of-Spring Exhibition, a vibrant tribute to Washington, D.C.’s beloved cherry blossom season. Now in its 8th year as an official National Cherry Blossom Festival program, ARTECHOUSE’s annual cherry blossom celebration has become a must-see for locals and visitors alike. Featuring immersive and interactive, technology-driven installations, this year’s Blooming Wonders invites guests of all ages to enter a world where nature, technology, and art collide.
“Celebrating DC’s cherry blossom season has become one of ARTECHOUSE’s favorite traditions. It’s a time of year when we can share the beauty of the blossoms with our community in a unique and engaging way, ” said Sandro, Founder & Chief Creative Officer of ARTECHOUSE.
This year’s exhibition is the newest iteration of past cherry blossom-themed installations, bringing back fan favorites alongside new interactive experiences. Beginning March 7, 2025, and running through the end of April, Blooming Wonders invites guests to experience the fleeting beauty of spring in a way that only ARTECHOUSE can deliver.
“The National Cherry Blossom Festival is proud to include ARTECHOUSE’s unique cherry blossom exhibit, once again, as part of the 2025 Festival celebration. We invite Festival-goers to add “Blooming Wonders: A Best-of-Spring Exhibition” their Festival plans for a unique, immersive experience that leverages the power of art and technology in appreciation of the beautiful blossoms,” said Diana Mayhew, president and CEO of the National Cherry Blossom Festival.
Perfect for cherry blossom enthusiasts, art lovers, and curious minds of all ages, the exhibition offers an unforgettable journey into spring set against the backdrop of one of DC’s most enchanting seasons. Visitors can look forward to:
-
PIXELBLOOM: Timeless Butterflies in the Immersive Gallery, a cinematic piece that takes audiences on a vibrant exploration of spring. The experience begins with the delicate blooming of cherry blossoms leading audiences through larger than life flower-filled landscapes alongside a mesmerizing flock of butterflies. It’s a visual experience that reminds us of nature’s ephemeral beauty.
-
In Gallery 1, Rupture, created in collaboration with renowned artist Yuko Shimizu, combines centuries-old Japanese traditions with innovative technology. Visitors are invited to interact with hand-drawn ink illustrations, digitally transformed into a dynamic and interactive art experience.
-
Gallery 2 will feature Blossoming Field, a full-floor interactive projection installation that engages visitors directly with the art. With three interactive zones, visitors can encourage cherry blossom trees to bloom, interact with floating reflective orbs, and engage with bees and honeycombs, all while accompanied by gentle sound design.
-
Akousmaflore et Lux, a small, interactive garden by the French artist duo Scenocosme. The plants in this living garden respond to gentle touch, creating a symphony of sounds as the plants “sing” through visitors’ presence.
-
Digital Flower Experiments by Mei Tamazawa, an interactive experience inspired by a scientific lab, offering visitors the chance to engage with real-time video processing. The final two screens will feature games from the 2021 Renewal2121 exhibition, Pachinko and Upcycle, encouraging playful exploration of sustainability and creativity.
-
The Media Lab will present Hello, Shadow! by Joon Moon in a special version inspired by the spring theme complementing the seasonal display.
With something for everyone, from children to adults, Blooming Wonders invites visitors to connect with nature in interactive ways while celebrating the beauty and significance of the cherry blossom season. Blooming Wonders is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. during its run. Enhancing the experience further, the onsite XR Bar is open Monday–Thursday from 4 p.m. until close and Friday–Sunday from 11 a.m. until close, offering spring-inspired drinks to complement your visit.
