ARTECHOUSE is thrilled to announce its entry into NFT territory with the launch of the first ever “collectable experience” NFT in partnership with Nifty Gateway on June 4th, 2021 at 6:30pm ET.
This marks a new chapter in our story by finally allowing our ARTECHOUSE fans to also become ARTECHOUSE collectors.
NFTs (non-fungible tokens) are cryptographic assets on blockchain with unique identification codes and metadata that distinguish them from each other. Unlike cryptocurrencies, they cannot be traded or exchanged at equivalency, but can be used to represent artwork, people’s identities, real-estate and more.
And while NFTs have been seemingly everywhere this year, we are excited to bring our own spin to this phenomenon.
Our inaugural “collectable experience” NFTs are created from the immersive digital art exhibition Aṣẹ: Afro Frequencies with London based, Afrosurrealist artist Vince Fraser, currently on display at ARTECHOUSE Miami.
The collection at Nifty Gateway features four of these innovative NFTs. Two will be available via auction on Nifty Gateway’s open access online marketplace from June 4th at 6:30PM ET. The other two will be available (in editions of 20 at $250) on-site at ARTECHOUSE Miami through June 6th, accessible through a private Nifty Gateway page using QR code technology.

VISIONS OF THE BLACK EXPERIENCE: FUTURE (Digital auction June 4 @ 6:30pm ET)
An excerpt from the last scene of Aṣẹ: Afro Frequencies, this piece expresses an optimistic vision of the future where all of us have our “own songs of freedom.”

ASE MASK TRIPTYCH (Digital auction June 4 @ 6:30pm ET)
A one-time special edition featuring three re-imaginings of African tribal masks – one from Aṣẹ: Afro Frequencies and two unique to this NFT set.
Used during rituals and festivals, African tribal masks are more than just accessories: they are sacred objects used for protection, to communicate with the spirit world and as a way for the wearer to channel the spirit depicted.
The inspiration for these pieces came from a number of diverse African cultural sources, including the Pende, Dogon, Yohure, and Dan people. Each tribe has its own distinct style, which was used as a starting point for reimagining these important objects.

VISIONS OF THE BLACK EXPERIENCE: GODDESS NANDI (Onsite only at ARTECHOUSE Miami, edition of 20 at $250)
An excerpt from the signature piece of Aṣẹ: Afro Frequencies, this scene shows an interpretation of Nandi against “1000 African Masks” as a powerful goddess figure.
Nandi was the warrior mother of Shaka Zulu, who battled slave traders and trained her son to be a warrior. The son grew up to become King, establishing an all-female regiment that often fought in the front lines of this army.
